McCain's "One" Response - M25 Network

Friends,

This is Grant from the Matthew 25 Network.  By now you have probably seen the McCain campaign's "The One” Ad.  I wanted to provide somewhat of a "special comment" on this ad.  Because, I think many who don't come from an evangelical context may miss the point.  At the bottom of the page there is a link for our petition to call upon Sen. McCain to renounce these ads, but first I want to walk through why they are so troubling.

The McCain campaign is claiming that it is "humorous," "a joke," and "a little fun."  Well here is the ad...and below the fold we'll tell you why this is anything but a joking matter -

I don't know if any of you know about this site, other Obama supporters showed it to me. But there is a guy who is like a genius with baseball stats and he has been working with election stats now for a while and was predicting results in the primaries that were pretty accurate. Some of you might already know but I just thought I would share just in case. Here is the site:

Experience attack: Watch for "Ghost Target"

Having gone through Tuesday, many are arguing that Obama should fight Senator Clinton’s “experience argument” by showing that she in fact does not have the experience she is claiming she does.

There are two major flaws with this strategy:

1. Each time Hillary brings up the “Experience” topic, she is subliminally evoking the “Bill” experience in the minds of the audience, essentially saying vote for me, and you’ll get him too. This makes her a “Ghost Target”. No matter how hard you punch at that argument, you won’t hit anything. Bill’s experience is there for all too see (what she is subliminally relying on), but you are instead punching her experience. You are just losing energy hitting air.

2. Even if somehow magically voters realized Hillary’s little psychological play, and stopped giving her credit for Bill’s “Experience”, this strategy will fail with John McCain. He does have experience, and you won’t win on that front the same way.

So what are we to do?

McCain Layed Groundwork for Outsourcing Jobs

This is HUGE . . . EXPLOSIVE!!! . . . per Kansas Democratic Party . . . (emphasis mine) . . .

McCain Amendment Lays Groundwork for Outsourcing Production of American Military Equipment

Yesterday, John McCain defended the Air Force decision to overlook Wichita-based Boeing Co. for a $35 billion contract to build airborne refueling planes, saying he would not work to overturn the decision and saying that military decisions should not be about creating jobs. [McCain Town Hall Meeting, Waco TX, 3/3/08; AP, 3/3/08] Unfortunately for American workers, McCain has the record to back his statement up.

We further learn . . .

In 2003, Sen. McCain authored an amendment undermining “Buy American” rules requiring U.S. military equipment, defense systems and components to be manufactured in the United States. . . .

And the news that hits below the belt . . .

Had Boeing been selected for the contract, it would have created 44,000 jobs across the United States, including an estimated 3,800 jobs in Kansas, and added $145 million a year to the Kansas economy.

I live in Washington state, where Boeing also has a huge presence.  The news that they didn't get this contract . . . was like a direct kick in the crotch.  It hurt.  Of course, I have several patients who work at Boeing . . . and already knew McCain was way down their priority list for other things.

This is anti-American.  This hurts . . . a lot . . .

Campaign Finance Reform:Obama v McCain

Updated: Business Week has an outstanding article on Obama's economic policies which he plans to outline today in WI. Great source for info on the financial experts on his team

One of the points I make often in my phone calls is to remind potential supporters that an Obama-McCain race could kickstart campaign finance reform as both have agreed to accept federal financing ($85 million) and not raise any private funding.
